Cate McRitchie

    Cate is the director of the Baton Rouge Chapter. She has held this position since 2004. 

    Cate graduated from Loyola University College of Music in New Orleans with a degree in Music Therapy as a voice major. 

    Her mother has been a member of Sweet Adelines since 1978 and Cate joined in 1990 at the invitation of a friend. Her first chorus was in Huntsville, Alabama. Two years later she began to drive from Huntsville to Nashville to sing with the Metro Nashville chapter. 

    In 1994, she and her husband, Doran moved to southern California and Cate sang with the Inland Empire chapter in Riverside. Cate moved to Baton Rouge in 1997 and visited the Baton Rouge chorus within the second week of the move. Currently Cate sings lead in Lyrical quartet. 

    Cate has been involved with Sweet Adelines in many capacities both musically and administratively. She has received musical education all over the country and attended many schools and seminars on barbershop music. She was the Lead section leader for four years and the Assistant Director of the Baton Rouge chorus for two years prior to becoming the Director. She completed the Directors Certification Program in 2004. 

    Cate works for the Louisiana Secretary of State in the elections and voter registration division. She enjoys movies and audio books.
