About Baton Rouge Chorus

About the Baton Rouge Chorus
The Baton Rouge Chorus is a vibrant a cappella ensemble that loves to sing, perform,
and share the joy of Barbershop harmony. Our music features four parts in tight, ringing
chords — a blend of artistry, sparkle, and genuine sisterhood. We welcome singers of
all experience levels, ages 18 and older, from every background and every corner of the
Baton Rouge area. If you love to sing, you’ll find a home with us.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
We proudly open our doors to any woman who wishes to lift
her voice in harmony with us. Just as it takes four parts to make our chords ring, our
chorus is stronger, richer, and more beautiful when women of all ethnicities,
backgrounds, and life experiences sing together.
Performances
We love sharing our music with the community. Each year, we present various shows,
perform at local events and participate in regional competitions. If you’re looking to add
a unique, uplifting musical experience to your next event, visit our Book Us page — we’d
be delighted to sing for you.
Education & Growth
Every rehearsal includes vocal instruction designed to help members grow as singers
and performers. We also learn from visiting coaches — masters of the Barbershop craft
who share insights that elevate our sound and artistry. Our parent organization provides
additional live video coaching, giving us even more opportunities to learn and improve.
Competition
Each spring, we travel to Houston, Texas, to compete in the Region 10 chorus
competition. This event brings choruses and quartets together to celebrate music,
receive constructive feedback from certified judges and cheer one another on. Regional
winners advance to the International Competition, held each fall in a host city chosen by
the International Board.
Quartets
Many of our members also form quartets — small groups that rehearse and perform
together in addition to singing with the chorus. Quartets are a wonderful way to sharpen
musical skills, explore new repertoire, and deepen friendships within our chorus
community.
Our Affiliation
The Baton Rouge Chorus is proud to be a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a
nonprofit organization of approximately 30,000 singers in choruses and quartets around
the world. Sweet Adelines is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is dedicated to
advancing the art of Barbershop harmony through education, performance, and
community.
