Elizabeth "Beth" Wallace

Elizabeth "Beth" Mitchell Wallace was named director of Baton Rouge Chorus in May 2021.  She is also the choir director at Ingleside United Methodist Church and an academic coach at the Center for Academic Success at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Prior to entering graduate school, Dr. Wallace taught high school choir and was chosen to receive the 2014 Louisiana Music Educators Outstanding Young Music Educator award, recognizing exemplary teaching and commitment to high standards for student learning, professional development, and service as a music educator. Dr. Wallace enjoys working as a guest clinician and adjudicator for choirs and festivals; recently she has served as an adjudicator and clinician for multiple events in Louisiana, including Parish and District honor choirs, LMEA performance assessments, solo and ensemble festivals, and honor choir auditions. Dr. Wallace also enjoys teaching younger children and has taught Pre-K music class in addition to teaching with Kids Orchestra in Baton Rouge, which provides quality after-school music programs throughout the area for elementary-aged students.

Dr. Wallace received a Ph.D. in Music Education at Louisiana State University, and Masters in Music Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where she also received bachelor's degrees in music performance and biochemistry. Dr. Wallace has taught at Friendswood High School in Friendswood, Texas; St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge; and St. Amant High School in Ascension Parish. Throughout these years Dr. Wallace’s choirs consistently received Sweepstakes and Superior awards at district and state festivals. She is currently a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the National Association for Music Education, Louisiana Music Educators Association, the American Choral Directors Association, and the Pan-American Vocology Association.

Baton Rouge Chorus is very proud to be Dr. Wallace's very first Sweet Adelines chorus and we look forward to exciting times under her direction!
